Police forces on Wednesday arrested 15 wanted men and suspected gunmen in separate areas of Basra, a police source said.
“Policemen on Wednesday (May 12) raided separate areas of Basra, where they arrested seven wanted persons and eight suspected gunmen,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The forces seized 10 mortar shells and three unlicensed vehicles,”
Basra is 590 km south of Baghdad.
Kirkuk
Policemen arrested on Wednesday 10 suspected gunmen and seized an unlicensed vehicle in southern Kirkuk, a source from the joint coordination center said.
“A force from the emergency police department waged early Wednesday (May 12) a security raid in al-Aurouba and al-Hajaj regions in southern Kirkuk, where ten suspected gunmen were arrested and an unlicensed vehicle and a number of weapons were seized,” the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.
“The operation ended at 7:45am without incident,” he added.
Kirkuk is 250 km northeast of Baghdad.
